Carrollton Friends ; You left us too soon
This site is dedicated to the families and friends we have lost to cancer and other autoimmune diseases. Our once idealic homes were leveled by W-1W airport expansion which we fought so hard to stop. We did not know what was sitting next to us, what had been driven through our streets, what had run off into the creeks we played in. We did not know that our families would be affected for generations.
As described in “Atomic Homefront,” the West Lake Landfill, operated by Republic Services, Inc. and located in Bridgeton, MO, contains at least 47,000 tons of radioactive waste including Uranium 238, Thorium 230, and Radium 226.
According to the landfills response to EPA questions in 1991; list the following contaminants [Uranium-238, Radium-226, Radium-223, Lead-211, Lead-212, Potassium-40 and Thorium] and list's [insecticides and herbicides from Chevron Corp; and the following other waste [waste ink, esters, halgenated intermediates, oils, heavey metals, pigments, alcohols, wastewater sludges, asbestos, oily sludges, insecticides, aromatics and herbicides] and it was alleged that a "considerable amount of paint sludge in 55 gallon metal drums has/had been disposed of on the site".

To be clear;
No data will be shared, sold or used in any other way than for statistical and mapping purposesIt is NOT for class actions,it is NOT for litigation,it IS for information;it IS for reaching former neighbors who may not be aware of what we grew up with and possibly earlier detection of cancer. Maybe even saving lives of others who lived near cancer contamination and moved away prior to being diagnosed.
Missouri Cancer Registry and the National Cancer Registry lists the address where you were diagnosed. Has a spot for Industry and Occupational exposures , but no where for prior exposure to an Environmentally contaminated sites and no prior address of where you were exposed.
Lives can be saved by adding this to the Cancer Registries input forms; to show where people were exposed to cancer causes. IE West Lake Landfill, Cold water creek, Weldon Springs and so many others nation wide.
Please feel free to share this site with anyone you know who lived or worked near West Lake Landfill during the same time period.
And please contact your states Cancer Registies and ask them to add "Information on prior exposure to an environmentally contaminated site." (Including a prior address would help facilitate this, since many individuals are not aware of what they have been exposed to) "
I try to respond to every person who enters information on the form, so double check your email entry if you wish a response. Thank you again for reaching out, every question leads to more understanding
